Our Areas Of Expertise

Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is a normal response to stress or danger. But sometimes fear and worry stay with you even when you are safe. It can affect how you make choices, who you form relationships with, how you sleep, or how you function at work or school.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you understand the cycle between anxious thoughts and the choices you make. You can learn to challenge unhelpful thoughts, calm your body, and slowly make choices based on what matters to you instead of what fear tells you to do.

Our specialists help with a variety of anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and other phobias.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD can cause unwanted thoughts, images, or doubts that return again and again. These are called obsessions. To reduce the fear they create, you may check, clean, repeat, seek reassurance, or perform mental rituals. These actions may bring brief relief, but they keep the OCD cycle going.

Our team uses specialized forms of CBT to treat OCD. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) helps you face your fears in small, planned, and manageable steps. Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) helps you understand how OCD pulls you away from what your senses tell you. Treatment can help you spend less time managing OCD and more time living your life.

Depression Disorders

Depression is more than having a bad day or feeling sad. You lose interest in things you once enjoyed, feel tired most of the time, or have trouble concentrating. Even simple tasks can feel overwhelming. Depression may also lead to guilt, hopelessness, isolation, or harsh thoughts about yourself.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you notice thoughts and habits that may be making depression worse. Dr. DiMatteo and Dr. Radnitz can also help you challenge overly negative thoughts and take small, realistic steps toward supporting your mental health. You do not have to wait until you feel motivated to begin. Small actions can help rebuild energy, confidence, connection with others, and hope.

Trichotillomania and Other BFRBs

Hair pulling, skin picking and nail biting belong to a group called body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). These behaviors may happen when you feel stressed, bored, or overwhelmed. They may also happen automatically while you go about your day. BFRBs are not signs of weakness or a lack of willpower. They are also not self-harm.

Our team specializes in treatment for BFRBs, including Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB). Together, we can develop practical strategies to address your specific triggers. Therapy can also help you reduce the physical damage from these behaviors, feel more in control, and respond to setbacks without shame or giving up.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism is a natural difference in how someone experiences and responds to the world. Our goal is not to make an autistic person appear less autistic. We provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy that respects each client’s identity, strengths, needs and preferred ways of communicating.

Autistic adolescents and adults may seek therapy for anxiety, depression, OCD, stress, or the effects of feeling misunderstood. Therapy can also help with setting boundaries, expressing needs, navigating relationships and recovering from burnout. Together, we can adjust CBT strategies so they make sense for you. Treatment is shaped around your goals rather than someone else’s idea of how you should act.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

After a traumatic experience, your mind and body may continue to react as if the danger is still present. You may have unwanted memories, nightmares, excessive guilt, or difficulty trusting others. You might also avoid people, places, or conversations connected to what happened.

Trauma therapy provides a safe and structured way to process your experience and regulate your nervous system. Depending on your needs, treatment can include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Prolonged Exposure (PE). Treatment moves at a supportive pace that works for you.

Women’s Mental Health

Hormonal changes and life experiences can affect emotional health throughout a woman’s life. Anxiety, depression, or OCD may appear or become stronger during fertility treatment, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, or menopause. Relationships, caregiving, work demands, trauma, and changes in identity add another layer of stress.

Therapy gives you a place to discuss these concerns without judgment or dismissal. Our team helps you manage anxious thoughts, improve your mood, adjust to a new role, or find a healthier balance between your needs and responsibilities. We consider the full picture of your life so that care feels tailored to you.

Tics and Tourette’s Syndrome

Tics are repeated movements or sounds that can feel difficult or impossible to control. They may include blinking, facial movements, head or shoulder movements, throat clearing, or other sounds. Tourette’s Syndrome is a condition that causes tics, but you can also develop tics from other conditions.

Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is a treatment that can help children and adults manage tics. Our therapists are trained in CBIT and can help you learn to notice your signs and triggers to make tics more manageable in your life. Our goal is to reduce your distress and help tics interfere less with school, work, relationships, and daily life.

Problem Drinking and Cannabis Use

Alcohol or cannabis may begin as a way to relax, sleep, socialize, or cope with difficult feelings. Over time, you may notice that you become dependent on alcohol or cannabis and that your mood, health, relationships, or life responsibilities are being negatively affected because of it.

You do not need to wait for a crisis or identify as having an addiction before asking for help. Therapy can help you understand what triggers your use and what you receive from it in the moment. Together, we can explore your goals, learn new coping skills, plan for high-risk situations, and respond to setbacks.

Anger Management and Assertiveness Training

Anger is a normal emotion. However, anger becomes a problem when your reactions feel out of control, damage relationships, or lead to choices you later regret. Some people avoid conflict completely and then feel resentful or overwhelmed.

CBT can help you recognize your triggers, notice the thoughts that increase anger, and pause before reacting. You can also learn assertiveness, which means expressing your needs clearly while still respecting the other person. Our therapists teach you skills to manage your anger, set boundaries, and communicate more effectively.

Stress Management

Stress can build when work, school, parenting, caregiving, health concerns, or other responsibilities demand more than you feel able to give. You may become irritable, exhausted, or unable to focus. Stress can also affect your sleep, relationships and physical well-being. Even positive changes can become stressful when too many things happen at once.

Therapy can help you identify which parts of your stress you can change and how to cope with the parts you cannot control. You may work on problem-solving, time management, relaxation techniques, boundaries, or more flexible expectations. Instead of simply pushing yourself to do more, we help you protect your energy.

Support for Life’s Challenges

You do not need to have a mental health diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support while facing a difficult decision, relationship problem, career change, divorce, fertility challenge or family conflict. You might feel stuck, unsure what you want or tired of handling everything by yourself.

Therapy gives you space to slow down and look at the situation more clearly. Your therapist can help you identify what matters to you and turn larger problems into manageable steps. If you find yourself feeling stuck in life, having the right support can make forward movement possible again.
